marriage fraud protest in Mississauga and Ottawa

I was glad that there was a protest in Mississauga and Ottawa in mid-February 2007. I got a chance to meet a number of victims and supporters. I had met with victims who sponsored their wife from Cuba, Dominican Republic, Philippines, Afghanistan, China, India, and Pakistan. I made new friends, and shared my story with them. It was quite cold in -8 to -12 'C weather, without the wind chill, but we all survived and held it together. I think many of these folks were hoping to hear from someone and do something about this problem. The people who were there, really cared about doing something to put a stop to it. This is not to say that those that didn't attend did not care as much, but to some, job and other priorities weigh in much more, which is understandable.

This is a difficult fight because many people who are victims, are afraid to come out or are misguided by Immigration official at the 1-888-242-2100 phone number. But, I think the folks in the Toronto area has gotten a much stronger group. A new non-for-profit organization is about to be formed, called CANADIANS AGAINST IMMIGRATION FRAUD, and I am sure that things will begin to click, as time passes. Trying to enforce action from the existing laws is one thing, and changing the laws are also another thing. We hope that both will be done.

It would be good to just walk away, and get on with my life, but I feel these people need some help and a voice, so I am going to continue to help these victims, as much as I possibly can. Nothing is easy in life, but we must accept the challenges that we are given. In this particular case, if we don't then the same things will happen to others. I don't want others getting hurt. I just can't walk away. I am still going to try to continue with my life, but help the victims as well. With the blessings of God, no one can stop the success of this moral fight. Wherever there is truth, there is God.
